My name is Nina and I am passionate about Ecological restoration. I received my bachelors in Forest Resource Management from the University of Missouri Columbia and have pursued projects that involve managing natural areas and resources for the past 10 years. Currently the battle we face in McHenry County involves buckthorn, a detrimental woody plant that is invasive and proliferates the forests, prairies and private properties. I am diverse in experiences in the field, my background and skills involve conservation, Ecological restoration, Forestry, Arboriculture, and native landscaping. I would like to offer invasive species consultation along with native tree plantings since oftentimes the hesitation to removing the invasive species involves removing one's privacy buffer. The native tree plantings provide ecological benefit as well as are greater aesthetics. If you want to discuss your land management goals you can reach me at nlw2n4@gmail.com.
Matt Evans, managing ecologist for woodlands at the Chicago Botanical Gardens has been kind enough to offer his expertise with some of the information we're sharing on this website. Here is an informative video from the GoGreenMatter.org webinar series (offered by GoGreenWilmette.org) featuring Matt -- Alien Plants: Hidden in Plain Sight.
